well, from German A/V Comparitives real world tests (latest) Avira came
out as the best free AV

Avast has fallen a bit, AVG screws up some key software programs (long
story)

Bit defender free has high marks but false positives in quarantine are
almost impossible to get out

Kaspersky is high on the list also but slowed the ****** out of my PC
and is not free

so that's the basic reasoning I have for liking Avira
