Hello,

This can be caused by a conflict between a Stylexp theme and SP1.

To test this, change the theme and try Add/Remove again.

If the error does not happen than get an updated version of the theme

It most often happens with an old ( pre sp1 ) copy of forever blue but their
are others which do the same thing.

Change to the windows default " Windows XP Style " just to be sure.

I tried roll back and the problem re-appears. I did
install the new critical update after the roll back.

The Add or Remove Programs opens while running on safe
mode.

I did a virus scan and a worm scan (win32 worms) which
came back negative.
