stopping "shortcut to..." from being included automatically with each shortcut
Thanks for reminding me about Tweak UI, it worked like a charm.

To stop the words "Shortcut To..." from appearing before the title of each
new shortcut you create, either ;
1). Open regedit and locate the value :
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer]
"Link"=hex:00,00,00,00
..and delete this value completely. To "undo" (return the added "Shortcut
To...") reverse the procedure and create the [dword] value "Link" and
assign it a value of 00,00,00,00 under the same key (above).
or...
2). Download the [small & free] program from Microsoft called TweakUI.exe
by clicking on the link below.
You will find the option to "uncheck" a box labelled "Prefix "Shortcut to"
on new shortcuts" under the heading "Explorer" in TweakUI.exe - uncheck it
and you will have no more "Shortcut To..."
Download the small TweakUI installation file from :

cut to..." from showing up in front of each short cut I create. How can I
get this to stop?
