Hi All,

Is M$ skipping Son-of-Frankenstein (Windows 9) and going
directly to Grandson-of-Frankenstein (Windows 10)?

Yes, they are skipping "9", probably because they consider the number
to be unlucky. In actuality what is unlucky is their choice of
leadership. The current dweeb isn't much better than the previous
lunatic.

As others has stated, I think it is because "9"
sounds like the German word for "no". "Windows No"
kind of makes me chuckle.

I would not think M$'s marketing Weasels would
let that one pass. They are well aware of when
Chevrolet made the mistake of marketing their
"Nova" in Mexico, where "Nova" is short for
"No Go". Couldn't sell a single car. Chuckle!

Urban myth...don't believe everything you heard

From NPR
qp
Finally, in our discussion with John Colapinto last week about brand
names, we bought pointed to the Chevy Nova as an example of poor
branding, repeating the alleged problem in Spanish. Nova means no go.
Well, after a flurry of tweets, we check the website snopes.com, and we
apologize to the Chevy Nova, and all its former and current owners. The
story is an urban legend. In Spanish, nova means the same as it does in
English. You need to insert a space to get to no va, and evidently
people didn't. The Nova sold very well in both Mexico and Venezuela
