Ken,

I don't want to read posts trolls or to trolls.

Suppress (flag) instead of kill (delete) a trolls post, and set your browser
to suppress responses to parents that are suppresed themselves.

Presto, whole (sub)threads automatically gone - including responses from
people who are well-willing, but for some reason getting cought up in it.

No.

First, there's no browser involved. I use Thunderbird for usenet.

Second, there's no option to "suppress."

Third, I've tried numbers of different options in Thunderbird, and none
of them work any better than Delete.

I and several others have posted - to you - about this and those who
use Thunderbird say it *does* work if you set up a Message Filter (Tools
- Message Filters) and set the 'Match' section to match the 'From' of
the bozo and in 'Perform these actions:' set the action to 'Ignore
Subthread' (*not* 'Ignore Thread').

I have Thunderbird but don't use it for Usenet/NetNews), so it would
be nice if those who do use such a Message Filter for News can
(re-)confirm that this indeed works and how.

(Ping Ralph Fox?)

Please don't tell me to switch what program I use. I've tried most of
the available programs, and I like Thunderbird the best. Most of them
have some things I like better than what Thunderbird does, and other
things that I like less than what Thunderbird does. On balance, I prefer
Thunderbird.

You don't have to switch.

I will continue to killfile those who are obviously trolls and those who
continually reply to trolls.

(AFAIK,) With the above setup you do not have to killfile those who
reply to trolls, because you won't see those replies.
