Ken,

I don't want to read posts trolls or to trolls.

Suppress (flag) instead of kill (delete) a trolls post, and set your browser
to suppress responses to parents that are suppresed themselves.

Presto, whole (sub)threads automatically gone - including responses from
people who are well-willing, but for some reason getting cought up in it.

No.

First, there's no browser involved. I use Thunderbird for usenet.

Second, there's no option to "suppress."

Third, I've tried numbers of different options in Thunderbird, and none
of them work any better than Delete.

I and several others have posted - to you - about this and those who
use Thunderbird say it *does* work if you set up a Message Filter (Tools
- Message Filters) and set the 'Match' section to match the 'From' of
the bozo and in 'Perform these actions:' set the action to 'Ignore
Subthread' (*not* 'Ignore Thread').

Yes, I know you have. I've tried what you suggested more than once. I
wish I could get it work, but I haven't been successful.

I have Thunderbird but don't use it for Usenet/NetNews), so it would
be nice if those who do use such a Message Filter for News can
(re-)confirm that this indeed works and how.

(Ping Ralph Fox?)

If you say it works, I'll believe you, but I can't get it to work and I
don't know why. Is it something I'm doing wrong? Some extension I have
running? Any suggestion would be appreciated. It sounds like a great
setting to use.
