Default How to disable write access for CD/DVD drive?

Hi John,
Thank you very much for your advice. :-)
I presume that by unchecking "Enable CD recording on this drive" - I am only
restricting writing on that particular drive?
Whereas the other option "disabling the XP IMAPI service" completely disable
CD burning for all writable CD drive?

Can I confirm this also apply to DVD writable drive?

Cheers,
Tony

Open "My Computer", right click on the CD/DVD drive icon and select
"Properties". Click the "Recording" tab and then uncheck "Enable CD
recording on this drive".

You can also completely disable built in XP CD/DVD writing by
disabling the XP IMAPI service. Control Panel - Administrative Tools
- Services -IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service - Startup Type -
Disabled.

If you have 3rd party burning software installed you will need to also
uninstall it.
