Default Everything Stealing Too Much CPU

OGEE wrote:
Latest Everything.exe installed.

It is so much faster and very useful

EXCEPT !

when minimized to the taskbar it eats over 80% of the CPU causing
other apps to turn into snails.

If I bring it to the main window "Show Search Window" Everything stops
stealing all that CPU and drops down to around 3% CPU usage.

Any way to moderate Everything ?

If it was me, I would run Process Monitor when Everything is
drawing down 80% CPU, and see what part of the file system it's
banging on. Apparently Everything has "exclusions" to avoid
this sort of looping behavior.

Process Monitor

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sys...nloads/procmon

Version 3.4

Runs on:

Client: Windows Vista and higher.
Server: Windows Server 2008 and higher.

If Everything is monitoring the folder where it keeps the
indexes, it'll go into a loop.

Some filter terms might be

"Process Name" "Begins With" "Everything" === try this by itself first
"Operation" "Is" "ReadFile" === this one might make for easier reading later

but you might be able to see the egregious behavior without
even doing any fancy analysis. The tick box in the File menu
starts and stops the trace, and it can use a bit of CPU while
tracing. Stop the trace, then go look at what you got.

From my Sent folder, the following links might work for WinXP. Version 3.1

I had some trouble with the download link. I hope this works.
