That's a version of Windows, not a browser.

It is nether a good idea to have multiple browsers, nor a bad
idea.
You can have as many as you want.

Personally, I want only one--the one I think is best--but
there's no
downside to having more.

I use Internet Explorer 8.0 for most purposes. However, some
pages do not display properly in IE8 - and for those pages, I use
Opera or Mozilla Firefox. These three browsers co-exist happily
on my computer.

There is one proviso. You need to retain Internet Explorer on a
Win XP machine - because the Windows Update / Microsoft Update
options do not function with non-Microsoft browsers. If you try
to use Opera or Firefox Mozilla to access Microsoft Update, you
will receive the following response:

'Thank you for your interest in obtaining updates from our site.

'To use this site, you must be running Microsoft Internet
'Explorer 5 or later.

'To upgrade to the latest version of the browser, go to the
