Somebody I know has a credit card account with a virtual credit card
number featu he wants to buy something online, he does
something-or-other, he is supplied with a valid credit card number
that is good for one use... end of game.

That is appealing to me, but I have been unable to find such an account.

Citi does for the American Air card.
