I have been testing with WMP for sharing media with my smart TV.

At last I seem to get results, but I do have some questions.
- I can set custom folders for sharing, but I also want to share the DVD
drive (E. I can't get this done.
- When playing some 4/3 divx files, they appear with stretched aspect
ratio on TV. (they play OK from DVD player)

Can this be solved?

You should be able to share drive E by right clicking it under Explorer
and pick sharing. Doesn't that work?

That's how I can make a shared folder (for other computers in the network).
This doesn't make them available for the TV.

Stretched video I believe is always a codec problem. And I don't know what
you mean by on TV. You mean you are sending your computer desktop to a TV?
Or you are using a TV application on your computer, or what?

I'm trying to share media (video files, music, pictures) using Windows media
player as a server for the smart TV.
I suppose the stretched pictures of (some) divx files has to be solved by TV
firmware updates. Other files are enlarged 4/3 correctly. And other divx
files aren't played at all... Chaotic codec implementation. And I'm talking
about files which play perfectly on PC and on the stand alone DVD player.

Another thing, what version of WMP are you using?

I'm using WMP version 11 on Windows XP and Windows Vista computers.

Now in WMP11, when I go to "options - media library - search in folder" I
can add folders which become available for the TV. I assumed it to be
logical to do the same with removable media (DVD), but then the add button
remains greyed out...
