You might be able to get it to work -- first, install this patch (if you have Service Pack 1
of XP installed, you already have it):

Then, reboot, load Messenger again, go to the Tools menu in Messenger, and choose the Audio
Tuning Wizard. During the wizard you should be given the option to choose the camera or
Microsoft AV/DV as your
video device.
