There are three common issues with windows update and
these articles will help support you:

If you get the 0x800B0004 error on trying to use windows
update read:

If you get a cryptographic service error read:

If you install MS03-026: Security Update for Windows XP
(823980) and windows update KEEPS wanting to install the
patch AGAIN - then read:
