Default Problems Installing USB Printers Under Windows XP SP2

I have a very similar problem with a Dell desktop and an Epson CX5400. I can
actually complete the installation...but when the printer is plugged in and
turned on the computer comes to a stand-still. When I use the Epson with my
Dell laptop (came with SP2 installed) I have no problems. I don't want to,
but if reinstalling windows helps I would do it. Have you found any other
solutions?

printers, have you found this?
2. When the installation fails there are a variety of symptoms afterwards

3. I contacted Epson about the problem and they blamed a conflict between

the matter. Sometime in the next couple of weeks I'm probably going to reload
one of my three computers with Windows XP and try installing the Lexmark
before I've appplied any service packs and see what happens. I have a feeling
that might resolve the problem.

However, it won't help me much as I don't have the time to wipe the machine
that I want to run the RX500 on.

several other things that I can't remember. Any ideas short of reloading XP?

From replies to my posting this topic on this and other newsgroups a pattern
seems to be emerging of this problem occuring primarily on Dell desktops.
Someone has told me that re-installing Windows resolved the problem for them
so I guess it may work for you. I am not aware of any other solutions at this
time.
