Default Unable to add a printer

No doubt inadvertent, but noentheless, the two printers I
had setup were gone from the control panel. When I chose
to "add a printer" I got a message that "Operation could
not be completed."
Help!!
Thank you.

Start the print spooler. From the command prompt, type:

net start spooler
(and hit enter)
