Is it possible to use Live Messenger with our personal ISP email address,
and not a Hotmail address? What about a Yahoo email address? Can it be used to sign on to Live Messenger? |

mjs,
Yes you can. If you use Yahoo Messenger, Live Messenger Users, will see your Online Status, if they added you to their Contact list with the Yahoo address. Unless you block them, or operating as "Invisable". The Yahoo Messenger does not have to be using MSN/Live Messenger to text chat with you. a. You will only be able to text message and send files, you will not be able to use the Voice Chat feature, unless both are using MSN/Live Messenger. If you use another address other than Yahoo, then you will need to start MSN/Live Messenger, to text message, share file, and voice with one another. You cannot use AOL/AIM Messenger will not work with MSN/Live Messenger, as Yahoo Messenger does. It's noon time on Sunday, the account confirmation page is not working properly right now. But should work in the next few days. So when you sign onto MSN/Live Messenger, you may get a confirmation verication warning, it may take several attempts to get that to work. -- Add MS to your News Reader: news://msnews.microsoft.com Rich/rerat (RRR News) message rule Previous Text Snipped to Save Bandwidth When Appropriate "mjs" wrote in message ... Hi,
You can always just change the address later if your address changes; Live ID will automatically move your contacts and such over if you need to and no one will be any more the wiser. -- Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Live Messenger MSN Messenger/Windows Messenger MessengerGeek Blog: http://www.messengergeek.com Messenger Resources: http://messenger.jonathankay.com (c) 2008 Jonathan Kay - If redistributing, you must include this signature or citation -- "Shenan Stanley" wrote in message ... news I use Live Messenger with my own domain email address ... so yes, it's possible. Just so we're clear, I'm talking about logging into Live Messenger as , and not simply adding that as a backup address. If you're using your own email address, then how does it handle passwords? Will it ask you to come up with one on your first login? Or will it ask for ALL the smtp info (server name, port, login id, password)? |

Did you even try? https://signup.live.com/signup.aspx?...ollrs=12&lic=1 "Use your own e-mail address" Recommendation - at least use an email address you know is not going away as a backup.. (Keyword - backup. They allow you to enter a backup email address because it is less likely you will ever lose access to all of your email addresses than losing access to just one.) Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo - less chance they will go away than your ISP in all likelyhood. You can use whatever you want as a primary address. If you actually visit the link given you will see how you get a "Live" account - and with that - you can logon to any "Live" service - inclusing "Windows Live Messenger". -- Shenan Stanley MS-MVP -- How To Ask Questions The Smart Way http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html |
