I am unable to login to messenger live I get an error 8000ffff service
unavailable.

There is a newsgroup especially for Windows Live Messenger:

microsoft.public.live.messenger.

This newsgroup is for Windows XP Messenger. Windows Live Messenger has
many times other problems than the XP Messenger.
