Default changing file type jpeg to a jpg

hello,

i am on windows xp. i was trying to upload a picture onto a public board but it would not allow me to because they would only accept ".JPG" files. i have tried to save a picture as a ".JPG" file but the file type still says JPEG. also, when i am saving a
photo in paint, the drop down box under "Save as type:" it says JPEG(*.JPG,*.JPE....) but i would like to save it as a jpg, not a jpeg. If you know a way to solve my problem please answer asap

Regards.

JPEG is the full name of the format (by the joint Photographic Experts
Group) and is the same whether the extension is any of those. Just be
sure that Folder Options - View does not hide extensions, and rename to
make the extension .JPG
