Default "size of media" incorrect

Using an new Olympus P10 printer.

When I do a print preview in Adobe Elements I get a media
size of 3.2" x 4.7" even when I select 4x6 in printer
setup. And the prints come out cropped, not the same as in
the preview window.

This also happens with other software.

Where does the software get the size of media from the
driver, the hardware, Windows problem?

Olympus blames Adobe and Adobe said it's not them.
