Is there a way to see if an email address is valid?
I had a friend who ran a small business. I have not seen them for about
3 years and wanted to contact them. I found their website is gone, and google brought up a message saying "business is permanently closed". The closure of the business did not surprise me, since I knew it was not working out real well for them. Anyhow, I only had their business email, not a personal one. I sent them an email two days ago, and did not receive a "Delivery Status Notification (Failure)" reply. Does this mean the email address is still valid, or dont all "dead" emails return that failure message? Is there any way to ping, or test to see if an email address is valid? Maybe they just dont check it often, but I am wondering if there is a way to check the validity. (To check if I would get a "Delivery Status Notification (Failure)" message for ANY email address, I sent an email to a valid email company (yahoo.com), but made up an address, which was very long and consisted of many random letters, numbers, and other aceptable characters, but knowing there was very little chance it was valid. In less than one minute, I received a "Delivery Status Notification (Failure)" message). |

My point is, you *might* be able to find something that is more current than a 3-year-old email address with some judicious searching. -- The less confident you are, the more serious you have to act. |

I recently searched for some data on a company that I used to deal with when I lived in that city. I moved from there in August 2006. The business was going to move about three days later. There is still seemingly-current data showing the old address at multiple sites. One was the local chamber of commerce! Sincerely, Gene Wirchenko |

Sincerely, Gene Wirchenko Google is notorious for having a lot of outdated links. I cant understand why I search for stuff, and end up getting links to Ebay items that sold 2 years ago, or contacts for people/ businesses that are long gone. In recent years, I'd estimate that half the stuff I click on in Google is either a dead link, or old worthless info. It kind of seems like they never remove outdated stuff. If they dont start cleaning up junk, soon they will just become a pile of rubbish links, anad finding anything of value will be like finding a needle in a hay stack. |

Thanks! your going to have to do a thorough check. FCC has ruined communications on the internet. all this depends on what IP address is at the site, at the time its checked, and what avenues your computer talking to it from takes. Its very possible it is not valid even after you check it and it says it is. Use more than one and use a trace program on the sites that you do use, to determine they are in fact far apart from each other in true location. Then do at least three checks on three differ sites that permit you to use them for email validation. Once they all say the same thing, then you can likely believe it. For you to understand what I am speaking about, it is about spam. And what has happened to the internet because of such a bogus false law. Many firewalls are up. And those firewalls all have false informations of IP numerals, to block traffic from any of these that have been reported. Because todays ISPs use what they call random change IP numerals, many people who are innocent on the net are blocked of because their isp gave them an IP numeral that is on a **** list. These **** lists exists in many servers of many differ locations and types of firewalls that shut down traffic. An example of a most troubled one, is verizon. Many of their IP numerals are on FIREWALLS **** LIST. all over the world, and they do nothing to remove these from the internet but issue them out to legit people that do not spam at all. Even in random, as a person is using the internet, the IP numeral will change so that these isp providers can hook on another IP on in a sign in to use the net next. Of course even at times, the same numeral can be used at the same time sometimes, and it does happen and both out there active. Once the net understands two are on it with the same IP numeral, the ISP is notified and the random numbers are changed on someone even if they are still on the same internet. The actual 12 digit indentifer, ran out a long time ago because of over population and how many do use the internet. So random IP numeral assignment is constantly happening, even if your on it. So in many cases, people get blocked and are not notified of it. That can even be you, while your checking a validation. Just a GLITCH OF ITS CHANGE, WILL NULL THE TRUE OUTCOME. Or even the site that is checking it can be blocked, and give you a not valid. When it is REALLY VALID. Keep this in mind, that those that use the internet without a IP numeral identifier such as a net meter, on their own screen and desktop of just what their IP address is at that particular second, as they are using it, are void to this information of when it happens and changes of. In true suggestion, only http://www.emailrobot.cn/ has the IP numeral up in its program that it checks from itself, and can be manipulated to check emails from even other servers IPs on the net, other than your own assigned isp IP numeral. Of course, you can also find out from using free ip tools what firewalls are blocking what IP numerals by entering the ip numeral into the program itself and give it time to report. Of course, it also does several other things as well but is also, subject to being blocked on the net. http://www.all-nettools.com/free-ip-tools.htm |

the ps is this, free ip tools does not check all the firewalls on the
internet but only a very tiny portion of them. On 2/22/2018 8:26 PM, tesla sTinker scribbled: On 2/22/2018 3:17 AM, scribbled: On Wed, 21 Feb 2018 22:46:12 -0800, "David E. I always use https://www.google.co.uk/advanced_search?hl=en (I'm sure there will be a US equivalent) rather than just the basic Google. (You can use it as the basic Google just by only using the top box, so there's no reason not to use this page instead.) One of the features in it, though I don't _often_ use it and it's a few lines down, is a "last update:" box, where you can choose between anytime (the default), past 24 hours, past week, past month, or past year. -- J.
