That is absurd. What is absurd? Having 5,000 fonts, or being unique? |

MailVelope: https://www.mailvelope.com/ MailVelope seems to be a public key email encryption scheme, which is nice, if it's done well, but, again, there are many PGP/GPG email solutions out there, and, we only need one. Of course there are, but MailVelope works nicely with Gmail, has its own version of GPG, and stores its own keys. Maybe there's a backdoor, but .... Is there a solution out there that will protect login credentials if you go to a web forum that doesn't have https, such as craigslist or android central? Yes - go and use a computer at your library, login via a "secure boot key" and create an identity on those sites that doesn't point back to you or your true email address. The research is up to you. -- Where's the Vangelis music? Pris' tongue is sticking out in in the wide shot after Batty has kissed her. Can't use something that isn't there. Websites that do not provide SSL cannot be coerced into providing it. I understand. I was swayed by what the description said. The description should have been clearer, but, I understand now, that I can't "add" encryption when it's not there. I guess the only way to do that is to tunnel into an encrypted network, and then do all the connections from that encrypted network. But, I don't have access to one. |

The idea that more fonts = more unique. This is Usenet, so, confusion will abound, and clarification will always be needed. We all agree, as shown in the title of this thread, that the goal, for the purpose of bits of identifying information, is to have the most common (screen size, fonts, plugins, time zone, settings, etc.). If, say, the original 1,000 fonts that came with the system are the most common, then having five times that will certainly flag you, if it's not common to have those particular additional 4,000 fonts. However, if it's most common to have those particular 5,000 fonts, then that, of course, would be the desired font set, for the purpose of reducing bits of identifying information. |

For example, let's say I have a web forum account which requires a login and a password, yet, it's not https. What are our options, if we don't want to just hand our passwords to anyone snooping on that login process? a: the website uses out-of-band auth eg oauth against google and facebook who have an encrypted auth page, or client side CRAM based auth. b: avoid the website tor and https everywhere don't help. It wouldn't be surprising to find there are more cheap computers in the world than expensive ones or that users choose resolution based on readability rather than capability. |
