Ok. Maybe i'll try it out then. When I saw it showing removal of
remnants was X'd out, I assumed it didn't.

If you're referring to the line that says, "Forced Uninstall - remove
remnants of already uninstalled programs", read a little closer. The
free version won't do anything about programs that have already been
uninstalled, it will only scan and remove stuff having to do with the
program it's uninstalling at that time.

Why don't you use the portable version?

Typical DUMB **** reply

Those statements make you useless !

Open Candy should be the least of your problems. It is very easy to
remove.
If you haven't learned to watch what you are installing, you are
helpless.

My poor vision does not seem to see the fine print and I keep getting
Avast installed.* I do not want Avast !

Is there something that will intermediately tell me when some background
install is happening ?

Download the free portable then all you have to do is unzip the file and
create a shortcut of the .exe and paste to your desktop.

Forget it it's an old version.

Which version did you compare ?

Portable is the same version as the free version.
2.0.4

The Pro version is 3.2.0

Install a program called 'Unchecky' which runs in the background & when
you install a program that tries to install PUPs (potentially unwanted
programs) it will uncheck any checkmarks that allow the install of these
PUPs & will inform you that it has done so.

Also, btw, you should always install a program using the 'custom'
install rather than the default automatic install. This will allow you
to pick & choose what you install of the program - some are necessary
but some definitely are not!
