Rene, be sure you're looking in the right place. They might be talking
about this key:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.lnk

Note that it's a lower case L rather than the letter i., and that
there's a leading 'dot'.

thing.
Also the O and 0 especially in passwords, Any way ,their method does cot
work although I get the Pin to taskbar message on the Right click but
nothing happens.

HI, Rene,

I have the Creators Edition, and your steps work fine here.

Otherwise, I have no clue.

I just did it.

- hit the Windows key to bring up the Start Menu
- scroll to find or search for "Settings"
- when it's found, right click on the entry and choose "Pin to Taskbar"
- Voila!

Does that not work for you?

That works to a point but instead of "Settings", I get the "control
panel" on the taskbar.

I also tried opening settings to the desktop then right clicking the
settings in the task bar but again it sets the control panel to the taskbar.
It seems to mistake control panel for settings.

Will check deeper into the naming of these 2 files.

I ran sfc and dism health restore wit same results, it seems that
windows takes control panel as settings.
Where is the settings file stored?
tried to find with "everything"
but there are soo many I finally gave up.

Thanks Rene
