Default Creating A Password Reset Disk (and, A Thanks For All The PreviousHelp)

Hello,

Regarding the creation of a "Password Reset Disk:
The one that uses a USB Memory Stick-

In the Control Panel, I did find the
"Create A Password Reset Disk"

Has the normal blue lettering for what is normally a clickable item.

I inserted a USB Stick.

Clicking on it does nothing. Absolutely nothing.
The PC does seem to recognize the USB Stick, so I guess that I don't
have to tell it to use a different drive letter. Or, do I ?
If so, how do I get to the USB Stick ?

So, I guess I have missed some step, or something.

Any suggestions on how to create this USB Stick item; sounds like a good
idea.

Thanks,
bob

Hi Bob,
I just tried it on my Pro version of W10 and on the screen right after
it tells you to insert the flash drive and you hit next to continue it
brought up a screen that has a section saying "I want to create a
password key disk in the following drive:". Inside the little pull down
window appeared my flash drive (F, in my case.

So if you are not seeing the flash drive in the little pull down window
then it sounds like a problem with your flash drive.

Is it being assigned a drive letter under the normal list of drives?

If not you need to get that problem fixed first before you use it as a
Reset Disk. Possibly it just needs formatting or formatted differently.
For what it's worth my flash drive showed up when when formatted for
NTSF and when FAT32. I did not try any of the other formats.

As a followup, since the program just created a small, 2k, encrypted
password recovery file on my flash drive don't bother wasting a large
flash drive for this.
