Default Managing pairs of Web pages and folders - curious problem

A friend has a web site with only a few pages. It was created with Office,
so each page has a _files folder.
In Explorer on her system (XP Media SP3) she can see the .html files at the
remote server but not the _files; toggling the relevant Explorer settings
doesn't show them.
In Explorer on my system (XP Pro SP3) at the very same time, I can see the
_files, and toggling the relevant Explorer settings doesn't hide them.
Can anyone suggest a reason for these consistently contradictory behaviours?
The winning cure would make all _files visible to her on her system. I
don't care about the view from my system; I am only consulting on this
mystery
