Default dvico external drive

Thanks for the speedy reply......The CD contains only a
USB2 driver for Windows 98SE & Windows 2000. The drive is
designed for XP so I assume that any driver will be
automatically assigned. Would this be the case?

Have you installed the drivers for the unit? While winxp
will detect the usb device within the unit it will not
detect the actual unit. Surely, the drive must have come
with a driver cd?

When connecting an external hard disk to my laptop using

a
firewire card, the computer does not see the drive. The
drive supports both USB 2 and firewire connections. The
laptop PCMCIA card works fine with other ieee 1394

devices
however not the disk drive. The same disk works fine

when
connected to a second PC with USB 2 however not my

laptop.
Is this a BIOS/settings thing or is the drive at fault.
