moving to new hardware crash
Went from old AMD computer w/ windows XP to new intel
computer 800FSB and abit IC7 mobo. Using same hard drive western digital 7200rpm ATA100. Everytime I try to fresh install windows XP to find correct hardware for registry, it won't copy some files and it crashes. XP is an upgrade CD, tried to use old win98SE full install but hardware is too new and 98 freaks out, isn't stable to upgrade to XP from. Is there a way to shutdown a stable XP on an old computer and then make it restart and detect new hardware in the new one without crashing? |

You need to do a Repair Installation of XP in order to ensure all the new
drivers and chipsets are correctly configured. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;[LN];315341 How to Perform an In-Place Upgrade (Reinstallation) of Windows XP Cari www.coribright.com "matt" wrote in message ...
