unable to load service pack and usb problems

Default unable to load service pack and usb problems

got a problem with microsoft xp recognizing the four 2.0
usb ports and tried to download service pack and it says my
copy of xp is illegal. i have the disc and the box it came
in how do i get it to recognize that my copy is legit , i
have a lot of things on this computer i dont want to have
to format my drive and reload windows

Weird. If the stuff you have is so valuable, it's probably worth buying
another HDD (they are not expensive these days), copying everything you
want to keep onto it then booting from the XP CD and doing a repair
install.

I expect that others who know the internals of XP better than I will have
simpler suggestions, but a two-HDD system for XP is not a bad idea in any
case.

Call MS about possible illegitimate copy of XP.

Where did you get your version of Windows XP?
Did it come with the PC? Or did you buy it from a shop?
If neither, then its an illegal copy and I suggest you replace it.
