Default Meaning of Mouse Error Message

I posted this in another NG but received no replies so I'll try here.

I have a Blue Optical Mouse and have uninstalled mouse 5.0 software and
have now installed Mouse Software 5.2. (I mention both because both give the
same error message). When I start my computer after Win XP Pro starts on the
desktop there's a small window with the following error message:
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!

Program: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Intellipoint\Point32.exe
abnormal program termination.

I click the box and go about my business. Can someone explain why I get this
message?

You may have some type of spyware programs that may interfer with
Intellipoint 5.2 "Point32.exe" autorun application. I have no problems with
my version.
