Do you have this set to IDE mode (Advanced tab in BIOS Setup)?

Anything I can do to make it recognize the hd??
I am in so much trouble.I have things stored on that hd that I need to
retrieve asap and have formated the old computer (which is subject for
another thread)...
Any help is very appreciated,
