8,000 plus images in "C" hard drive????????
Was searching for some specific photos and found them easily then I looked
further and it displayed 8,000 more that are stored in here. I could identify a lot of them from at least 5 yrs. ago. Many were Logos, icons (even for back-n-forth arrows), smiley faces, gambling logos, stationery sample swatches available, some pics from old e-mail attachments & forwards, images from Kodak's order forms and sample pics from their software to order on line , as well as Picassa, & Wal-Mart photo services for orders, albums, etc. icons from everywhere for navigation. There are more but I think I gave you the jist of the question. If any of the symbols/icons have anything to do with any software programs downloaded will deletion screw up their performance? I tried to delete what to me looked Un-Needed as I'd never look for them again. Some were not able to be deleted; so I moved on. Sometimes the message: "Can't delete DC 2548 is being used, close and try again". I did various things: emptied the recycle bin and that worked well as I could see how full it had become. I then deleted about just 100 at a time and then emptied. Now then: before I continue this (what I thought was a good idea), Am I Totally Screwing Things Up? I delved into hidden and sub folders to come up with that immensely HUGE amt. of files. Should I continue or not? May have made a stupid decision here. Prayin' I didn't tho. |

If they are in the Temp folder then deleting them will not screw anything on your machine! Download this tool and run clean up: http://www.ccleaner.com/download/bui...ading-portable run a clean up and see how much it will remove! Run disk clean up on your Drive. 8,000 plus images in "C" hard drive????????
Nobody here knows whether it's safe to delete this or that image file
since we can't see them. Generally speaking, if an image file is located in \Program Files it's probably part of a program. Otherwise, up to you. --- Leonard Grey Errare humanum est flowerbrackob wrote: Was searching for some specific photos and found them easily then I looked further and it displayed 8,000 more that are stored in here. If they are in hidden or system folders then they probably should not be deleted. That's probably why something/someone hid them. If they are in your C:\documents and settings\username\Local Settings\Temp folder then great, delete them if you can. But don't worry if a few are busy and can't be deleted. |

HTH, nass --- http://www.nasstec.co.uk I did a disk clean up today and a defrag. too in hopes. Before I did these actions I checked what the number of images in the C drive were and they were not changed. The orig. number of 8,000 dropped to 5,000 when I did all the deletions thinking I would clear space on the hard drive. Probably will have to call Dell techs in on this. Good thing I pay for their services for 24/7. Thnx a lot, Jaemy |

Guess I'm not understanding: Generally speaking, if an image file is located in \Program Files it's probably part of a program. All that I know is I found all the images in the C-Hard drive on the search for pictures, subfolders and hidden files. That is how all the 8,000 appeared. Thinking I would save space the deletions dropped the number to 5,000 or so. Not a good think me thinks! |
