Followup on USB to Ethernet adapter

Hi All,

I don't remember which group(s) I asked this question on,
so I am writing to both.

I asked about recommendations for USB to Ethernet adapters for
those laptops that no longer come with Ethernet Ports (Yikes!!),
which makes for a pain-in-the-butt to configure routers.

What worked perfectly for me was

I carry the drivers on a flash drive, which I downloaded
from the web.

If you decide to get one of these or similar, also get
you a USB 3.1 to "C" adapter. This is the one I like
as it has a little cable to relieve the (Archimedes)
lever stress. (The same laptop only had two regular USB
and one "C" socket. The adapter came in real handy.)

Handy for when I'm working on a machine where the built-in network
drivers are missing or broken. Plug adaptor in, 99% of the time the OS
picks it up and installs it and I have access to the internet to fix
whatever is broken.

for one I could always trust to work on varying systems.
And, I got mine wholesale as I have a resellers permit
(I have to pay use tax). It was definitely not $45.00.

If you insert that drive into a clients machine that has malware,
there's a possibility said executables (which drivers are as well as
their installers) could become patched and/or infected. So, not only
will you help in spreading the malware to other clients, but, you run
the risk of infecting the computer(s) you use to effect 'repairs'

knowledgeable peoples advice as your own? Your clients are suckers

So you *are* taking advantage of the information provided to your
questions here, in the form of making money from the answers by
passing it off as your own and/or the results of your so called

So neither of you carry another machine which is essentially a
portable lab to do the work with? If the machine you're checking out
has an active internet aware piece of malware present, you're helping
it out by re establishing a working internet connection? Have I got
that right?

Despite the fact you have a business license, you are NOT a
professional technician. You are a shyster. You take jobs away from
real technicians when you pass yourself off as one. Not only that,
you make customers leary of actual technicians because they think
(and with good reason based on the questions you ask here) that all
technicians are incompetent and out to screw them over.

You previously wrote about being a 'technician' (with no
certs/degrees, etc) for 22 years or so. If that was true, WHY do you
have to ask rudimentary 'how do I do this' questions here? Why do you
depend on various people here to help you out? You should donate your
'tech fees' to a charity or two. As, you haven't really earned any of
it. You've been mooching the knowledge from others and passing it off
as your own; and, that's NOT right.
