An age old problem......each task that's running when you shut down takes
about 20 secs to close by default. "Tommy" wrote in message ... I have a Dell Dimmensions computer and it takes forever to shut down. Power up is great, but shut down ie really bad. Any ideas ? |

I have a Dell Dimmensions computer and it takes forever to shut down. Another possibility is that it may have been configured to zero the swap file on shutdown for extra security: if that's the case, the hard drive light will be on for most of the shutdown period, whereas if it's waiting for programs to close the light will probably just flash on and off intermittently.
