Default Windows Messenger Auto Start

Hello

I have been using msn messenger for a little while without issue. The the
other day when I started my computer Windows messeger started automatically.
I check in the preferences and the box marked for the auto start with windows
was NOT ticked. I then check in the windows components in the installed
programs in control panel and windows messenger wasn't even installed!

Since I have installed windows messenger 5.1 and checked again that the box
in preferences to auto start is NOT ticked yet still it starts automatically?

Please tell me why, its very annoying!!!
Steve
