windows XP "can't find copy" message during startup
during startup, entire screen is blank except for a small
window with this "windows can't find copy, check spelling...etc." message. I click OK and my desktop appears, completely normal. What is this and how do I fix it? |

windows XP "can't find copy" message during startup
Greetings
1. Open Regedit by going to StartRun and then typing regedit. 2. Then do a find for "winshow" When any key is found, delete it by pressing the delete key. Be sure to hit the F3 (Find Next) key after each. There are about 10 or so that need to be find. Regedit will say "Finished Searching" when complete. 3. Repeat the same step above, but this time search for "winlink" 4. After that is done, close regedit. 5. You will then have to search for the the .dll files stored on the harddrive. Go to search for files at c: Then search for "winshow" and "winlink" Delete any files that you find. (Im my case I did not find any files named winlink) 6. Restart the computer For more info see: http://securityresponse.symantec.com...e.winshow.html [Courtesy of Matt] "David" wrote in message ... during startup, entire screen is blank except for a small window with this "windows can't find copy, check spelling...etc." message.
