Default How to enter MS-DOS??

This said, I find a far better way then to use Run / CMD is to right click
the old Dos .EXE program
and create a shortcut (PIF , program information file) and drag it to your
desk top.
Right clicking the desktop shortcut, then properties allows you to set many
special parameters
required for your Dos application.
For instance , click program / advanced and you can enter a link to a
special autoexec and,
or config file required for your program.. This way you can have special
setup files for many
old programs, provided they use Dos Int calls instead of writing directly
to the display memory
or ports which game designers used at that time to speed things up. But then
who wants to run
old Dos Games???
I am running XP PRO and was pleasantly surprised how well this works in XP.
For instance to be backward compatible with hundreds of old orcad electronic
schematics,
I run Orcad 4.14 a year 1991 program , it runs flawless and at hyper speed
on a 2.4 gig P4.
Same for 1993 written PLC programming and monitor program. One added bonus
with
XP, if your dos program, gerates an exeption error, XP asks you to close
the program, but
your system does not require a reboot.

JTK

to run your old dos program .

Since Windows XP is not based on MS-DOS, you cannot enter into it.
To use MS-DOS emulation, go to Start Run and type: CMD , and
hit your enter key.
