How to Put ASR floppy on CD
when we createcomplete backup using ASR it asks for a floppy to store disk
signature ,Partition information,. Pnp device information since Floppy is a very unreliablle media you store it for 1-2 years and it is dmaged. However the ASR information is found in system\Repair folder can we put those Asr files on I386 folder and write a script or modify following in asr.sif [ASRFMT.REMOVABLEMEDIA] 1 =1"\Device\Floppy()","\??\Volume{xxxxxxxx}","\DosD evice\A" to make it sutable to place on Cd Does any Body has idea. when I tested ASR on my system i found that I have to to a repair install of program requiring autostart services similarly certificates in system32\catroot were not backed up althouh during restore they were created by pnp devices as they were detected and installed also these certificates were backed by systemstate Data and restored under My qustion is suppose after one or two year you install a new hardware and choose to do bare metal restore usingASR your new hardware will be detected during Asr but catroot will be replaced by previous state second question Is ASR is a reliable Or I should go for some diskimaging software like DriveClonePro3.5 for bare metal restore Any suggestion will be appreciated highkly |

How to Put ASR floppy on CD
I've read many claims that you can burn an image of the ASR to CD and fool windows into thinking you have floppy. There are also many freeware virtual floppy drive programs online. My own choice would be to instal a fresh copy of Windows and then run restore using that. I've found many first-hand claims online that this works.
