Default No screensaver, XP Home, SP3, uptodate, no viruses, no adware, and noclue

Yes, this is a repost, but my other one might have gotten too old? As
well, such a simple problem that I can't seem to make go away (this is
what infurates me about MS, otherwise, I think they rule).

I've seen other posts, elsewhere, like this using Google search...but
never a definite answer

I have XP Home, SP3, 1.5Gb ram, more than 40Gb free on my HD. All
hardware drivers are uptodate.

My machine is as clean as a whistle. No viruses, bots, or the likes
(according to Norton, Ad-aware, etc.). My HD is always
defraged...etc.

I have NO hookups with wireless keyboards or the likes.

As soon as I did the SP3 update, my screensaver only activates 1% of
the time. That includes the Power Saving settings as well (monitor
off).

"I can manually start the screensaver and it will stay on, but that's
it, and it's annoying. "

Can anyone out there really help me?

Many thanks,

Sergio

If the screensaver comes from a non
microsoft source, then you will likely
need to reinstall the program in order
to re-integrate it to the new version
of your operating system.

if I'm not mistaken there are some
screen savers at microsoft.com

try installing one of them and see
if it will work out.

I should have posted that I am ONLY using MS's screensavers. The
original ones. Not any third-party ones.

Does the screensaver activate automatically based on the timeout you
configure (use a short one during testing) when you reboot Windows into
its safe mode?

Who are you quoting?

Turn off all other power settings. No sleep, no hibernation, no low power
mode for your monitor, etc.
