Except, that's not always the case and sometimes it's the SMD
component(s) responsible for the 'dead' sdcard. Paul goes onto
to claim that he's never seen dead SMD components on anything.
Paul must live in an off world bubble if that's the case. I
really don't know why he'd think SMD wouldn't have the same
issues and limitations as their physically larger counter parts.
Electronic components fail, regardless of physical dimensions or
packaging.

No rebuttle eh?

Rebuttal of what?

Are you having trouble keeping up with the conversation?

free. Oh No. I can't slow down, I can't hold back though you know I
wish I could. Oh no there ain't no rest for the wicked, until we close
our eyes for good.

I think you'll find that one is more directly related to your
comment, and much much harder to dismiss. Clearly, resistors do
more than '**** all' [g]

None of the circuits on that page is purely passive.

Didn't state any were.

So they cheat and use an adjustable resistor. The *user* uses a
screwdriver to set the correct circuit output voltage. The *user*
is the regulator, not the circuit.

I wasn't aware that taking advantage of a trimpot, or multiturn trimmer
potentiometer is cheating. We clearly have a difference of opinion on
this one. I've seen other circuits with adjustment features as well as
designed some that were intended to be adjustable by those who knew
what they were doing. One example is a coil/transformer driver. It uses
a trimpot to let you set the frequency as well as a 3 position switch
to toggle square wave or sine wave output at desired frequency. Since
it can run multiple types of coils, the frequency can't be hard set;
but has to be an adjustable one. And, you might actually not want it to
send a sine wave, but have a specific reason for the square wave
output. Maybe you get off on the awful harmonics you introduce if you
do?

I take no offense to your opinions concerning what you think I do or
don't know, either. Not when I have to weigh the incoming cash to that
of your own personal opinion. I'm enjoying the influx of cash, greatly.
So, I've either acquired a cash cow of suckers to milk from for an
indefinite period of time, in a small city, or, I actually do know what
the **** i'm doing. I tell you what, I'll ponder on that one a bit as I
do a bit of online banking and move some monies around. I'll give it
serious consideration, your opinion, I mean. Really, I will.

At this point, I see no point in further discussion that's already gone
nearly full speed, south on a northbound train track. I asked you, out
of curiosity why you opted to skip standard (afaik) troubleshooting
procedures. I got more than an earfull, and some choice smartass
remarks from you but no reply to my initial question. Which you mistook
as being some sort of personal attack on yourself. You clearly
misunderstood me, and you don't strike me as the sort who has any
interest in backing up to punt (it's an expression)...So I don't see
how any discussion can actually take place here. You have some sort of
an agenda based on a misunderstanding on your part, and i'm just too
damn busy these days to play along; while the money is great, the hours
are sometimes very long. But, I do like being my own ****ing boss.
These are the things I wanted you to outline in your
answer. Explaining it to you, kinda spoils the
surprise, doesn't it.

Yes, about that request/demand of yours. Where do you get the idea
you've ever been in a position of any kind to make one? Pat yourself on
the back for taking the time to do your own work that you previously
demanded of me, yes. You're a great example of how a severely maturity
limited individual can conduct himself online. Are you as much of an
ass in person? Rhetorical question.

Guess at stuff? What sort of professional training do you have in
the field of electronics and board level troubleshooting and
repair, Paul?

Guessing at stuff is part and parcel of forming a hypothesis.
Certainly for any complex system that's failed. You do talk
rubbish.

Educated guessing, sure. Is that what they/you meant by guessing then?

If so, perhaps you should have written as such?

I'm awfully sorry but I associate 'conversation' with positive informal
interaction and the communication of ideas. These tedious arse saving
exercises of yours often tax my patience and my level of interest has
been know to drop to zero. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

May I keep this for a tagline?
