Default Update log availability, driver update exclusions?

Greetings,

One of the W10P machines under my purview locks up during the update
reboot phase. It's my hunch that it's due to a hardware driver update
failure.

Does anyone know if Windows Update creates a detailed log of its actions
and where this log resides?

Does anyone know how to disable device driver updates?

TIA.

Thank you, 73,

I cannot provide an answer to your questions, but I encountered a
similar problem that I fought for months. Read the link below and see
what he said about removing the Wifi/BT card. That solved my problem
with the update and when the card was reinstalled, the driver was
installed so everything worked.

You could try this on it, after booting an
installer DVD to gain access to the Troubleshooting
section and use the Command Prompt.

DISM /image:c:\ /cleanup-image /revertpendingactions

This assumes a Windows Update operation that is failing
on reboot, and is still in a pending state.

Windows stores multiple log files at:
%windir%\Logs\WindowsUpdate

PowerShell
Get-WindowsUpdateLog

translates the log files and creates a human readable text file named
%UserProfile%\Desktop\WindowsUpdate.log

It turns out that W10P tried to boot from a backup SATA cartridge
because the mobo BIOS was erroneously configured to prioritize newly
discovered hard drives and move them to the top of the boot list.

Control Panel Advanced System Settings Hardware Device
Installation Settings

That's handy.
