Default Uninstalled MSN messenger, but...

Hello,

I downloaded MSN Messenger 5, installed it and
uninstalled it when I realized that I don't really need
it, since it's mostly the same as Windows Messenger, I
think... (what's the difference in fact?)

Anyway, now that it's uninstalled, my Windows Messenger
just won't sign in automatically. It will start when I
turn on my comp, but it won't sign in, unlike before.
Also, it used to automatically sign in after I
established a connection. Now it won't do that anymore.
Is there any way to make that automatic again?

Thanks!!!

Colleen.

Greetings Colleen,

This is a known issue -- to fix this, you need to fully reinstall Windows Messenger 4.7.

First, close down Messenger (right click the messenger icon in the notification area/system
tray and click close). Then click the start button, then click Run and type in (copy-paste
if you like):
RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove
Then click OK.
Messenger will then be uninstalled. For more detailed instructions and screenshots, go to,

Reboot, click "Yes" to remove your preferences, then reinstall from
http://messenger.msn.com/download/download.asp?client=0

MSN Messenger 5 has a few new features (a slightly tweaked interface, Univeral Plug and Play
file transfer, some new connectivity options, improved emoticon look, among other things).
