windows xp home sp2
my computer's performance and loading of personal settings slowed down and
automatically rebooted 3-times in one day, about 2 days after i installed the windows xp service pack 2. when i uninstalled it my computer speeded up and did not experience any automatic reboot upon logon, except for the usual time-to-time auto restart (but not frequent) at the windows xp logo startup. my authorized pc technician told me that the sp2 still has lots of bugs that need to be removed. for this reason, i need to know if sp2 takes up a considerable amount of memory, aside from hard disk space. thanks. |

It's had to be designed to work on many hundreds of thousands of different combinations of hardware/software. have you checked that you have no spyware or malware or any viruses? Have you checked that all your software and hardware have had all the manufacturer's patches for SP2 installed? |

Could the tech give specifics?
If not find a competent tech next time. There will most likely not be any changes to SP-2. However much software has updates and hardware has driver updates to function properly with SP-2. Did you verify SP-2 compatibility before installing SP-2? The Service Pack Installation Checklist can help prevent problems: http://www3.telus.net/dandemar/spackins.htm -- Jupiter Jones [MVP] http://www3.telus.net/dandemar In memory of our dear friend, MVP Alex Nichol http://www.dts-l.org "otj" wrote in message ... my computer's performance and loading of personal settings slowed down and automatically rebooted 3-times in one day, about 2 days after i installed the windows xp service pack 2. when i uninstalled it my computer speeded up and did not experience any automatic reboot upon logon, except for the usual time-to-time auto restart (but not frequent) at the windows xp logo startup. my authorized pc technician told me that the sp2 still has lots of bugs that need to be removed. for this reason, i need to know if sp2 takes up a considerable amount of memory, aside from hard disk space. thanks. |
