local domain password cache on windows xp pro
I have some winxp pc connected with a domain controller win2003.
If i insert a domain user on the local machine it can login on it with its domain password when the client is disconnected from network. My question is: Where does client store domain password? Many thanks in advance. Steve -- Creato con il rivoluzionario client e-mail di Opera: http://www.opera.com/mail/ |

Many thanks for your reply but this link explains how many logons are
cached on client not where they are saved. Do you know if there is a .sam file where they are stored? shike wrote: I have some winxp pc connected with a domain controller win2003. We store cached credentials so that you can log onto your domain-joined
laptop when you aren't physically connected to the domain (like at home or in an airport). Cached credentials aren't typical IDs or passwords--instead, they implement a construct called a "password verifier" that you can think of as a hash of a hash, salted with your user ID. More details on the security of password verifiers: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/913485 Steve Riley http://blogs.technet.com/steriley "shike" wrote in message newsp.tw1j55iwpa288x@homest...
