Works errors

I have a brand new Compaq Presario 2800 with MS Works and
Windows XP Home. All of the Works applications have
recently returned errors when I try to open them. The
error opens with the standard window "Application has
encountered a problem and needs to close" with the option
of reporting the problem to Microsoft. WordPad also does
it, but I can still use and save to WordPad if I just
move the error message out of the way. The spreadsheet,
word processor, etc won't open at all. I've tried re-
installing, but no luck.

Hmm... Wordpad too.... could be a corruption, set your system drive on a
CHKDSK and a defragment, run a full virus scan and see how it goes.

Have you called Compaq? should be under warranty.
