o Cloudflare releases Warp: Fixing Mobile Internet Performance and Security: free VPN privacy https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/comp.mobile.android/CjQIx8HYtHM I clicked around some more. o The "Warp" hype _was_ just a marketing gimmick! Both on iOS & on Android, Warp is NOT out yet. https://i.postimg.cc/15yT8PZf/encrypteddns02.jpg If you click the "get on waitlist" button, you get to be on a "waitlist", (woo hoo ... not), where there are 500,000 people ahead of you on that silly marketing-gimmick "waitlist". I realize now it's just a marketnig gimmick at this point in time. o Warp free VPN is _not_ out yet for mobile devices One thing to be wary of though, is that it's apparently a different protocol, which means it has to be looked at with a serious look by serious professionals. |

i told you about that long ago, which you ignored and went off on a rant about how openvpn is the only safe vpn protocol. once again, you're wrong. and although it's new, many people are actively using it and have been for quite some time. Hi nospam, FACT & LOGIC: o It's actually a good sign that you're making up these claims. You & I go way back, where it's actually a positive action from you that you seem to be affected by the fact my credibility is stellar. o Nobody has yet even once found my facts to be materially wrong (1) o Facts are funny that way Meanwhile, the amount of times you're dead wrong points either to an sadistic consistent deliberate duplicity, or, worse, an astounding ignorance of facts. (Pick one.) Since I care that my factual credibility remain at the 100% stellar level, here's just one example where I back up my claims, nospam: o Throttling software is now loading onto the iPhone 8's & X's as of Nov 1 https://groups.google.com/d/msg/misc.phone.mobile.iphone/1RiqBADD-vE/oqe8d-PbBQAJ Notice, I can back up _every_ one of my factual claims, nospam. o Facts are funny that way You Apologists spend all your time either o fabricating imaginary belief systems, or o denying facts outright Which is why, I posit, you act like children do, nospam. The only way you can claim what you claimed, nospam, is if o You completely misunderstood what the referenced news article said, or, o You're simply constantly pulling our leg (for your own amusement perhaps). (Pick one.) The fact is that I never claimed OpenVPN is the only safe VPN. o Sure, I _like_ OpenVPN for a variety of reasons o And one of those reasons is that the protocol is considered reasonably safe But I never would have said it's the "only" safe protocol, nospam. o Because "safe" is something I think no encryption has Remember, I constantly tell you about the German Enigma and the Japanese Code Purple and the USA "Loose Lips" in Libya, etc, all of which were 'cracked', while the owners _thought_ they were safe. For your simple credibility test, show us just one time that I said what you just claimed I said that openvpn is the only safe protocol. o Name just one HINT: I never once said I'm a VPN expert, and, in fact to the contrary, I repeatedly claim that I'm not, but I do often claim that I like and use OpenVPN, but that isn't the same thing as what you claimed I said which you claim is: o "openvpn is the only safe vpn protocol" While it's an encouraging sign that you'd love to prove me wrong, nospam, the only way you can even make that claim is either: o You completely misunderstood what I said, or, o You're deliberately distorting what I said (for your own amusement perhaps?) (Pick one.) If you disagree with my logical analysis, nospam, all you have to do is support your statement with an actual fact, where you merely need to point to a cite where I've said what you claim I said: I ask you the same adult factual logical question I ask of everyone: o Name just one -- (1) Since I'm human, and since I've posted thousands upon thousands of facts on Usenet, I must have, at least once, gotten a material fact wrong, but since my belief system is based on facts, nobody has _ever_ found a material fact wrong, and Lord knows, they would _love_ to prove me wrong (Witness the notorious Snit video, for example, where the apologists gloated that they "thought" they had me wrong on a material fact for the first time in over two decades of being on Usenet). https://youtu.be/7QaABa6DFIo (Snit video, which nospam applauded) |

Cloudflare says desktop versions of their new free Warp VPN are coming soon

He probably thinks nobody will bother to look at what he's on record saying in the past - oops: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!original/misc.phone.mobile.iphone/RF6P3PaQdSc/PyWsC_6IEwAJ Hi Jolly Roger, Hehhehheh... o The good thing is that you're _desperate_ to prove my facts wrong once, out of my thousands upon thousands of facts posted. That's a good thing since it shows that you realize that you can't compete with anyone who owns a brain which comprehends FACT to form LOGIC. o The sad thing is that you actually _believe_ that the cite you referenced shows that I said "openvpn is the only safe vpn protocol". Whenever I read what you apologists post, I have to shake my head & wonder: o Are you & nospam really _that_ incredibly stupid, or, o Are you both simply pulling our leg (for perverse amusement perhaps?) (Pick one.) FACT + LOGIC o Both of you exhibit a major weakness in both FACT & in LOGIC. The fact is you don't _comprehend_ even the _simplest_ of statements. That cite shows I said, verbatim: "Each VPN protocol has its strengths and weaknesses - and - I will admit that I'm _not_ a VPN expert (even though I've been using VPN as a non-corporate user for years..." *Which is EXACTLY what I told nospam in this thread.* That cite shows I further said: "However, in almost every *search* for pros and cons, openvpn wins over all the rest for typical consumer use in public VPN services (which is what an iOS user would most likely be using who has a _choice_ as to using the Facebook VPN services that this thread is about)." HINT: Do you see the word "search" in that simple sentence, JR? o You need to _look it up_ to comprehend what it means, Jolly Roger. Notice my statement was about "search results" (which are facts): o I realize both you & nospam don't comprehend this patently obvious fact. The reference proves I then showed _many_ cites backing up my assertions, Jolly Roger. These are facts which I quote below. o Since I back up my claims as my belief system isn't imaginary, JR. BEGIN VERBATIM QUOTE FROM HERE TO THE END OF THIS POST: Here's a result that you can see for yourself, with no cherry picking: http://www.bild.me/bild.php?file=7622855vpn01.jpg https://duckduckgo.com/?&q=vpn+protocol+strength+weaknesses&ia=web First hit and second hit are the same charts: https://support.purevpn.com/vpn-protocol-strength-weakness https://clients.temok.com/knowledgebase.php?action=displayarticle&id=448 "*OpenVPN protocol gives you the best speed with reliable online security."* Third hit was total bull**** which should never have been a 1st-page hit: https://it.toolbox.com/question/strengths-and-weaknesses-of-vpn-protocals-122104 Fourth hit: https://www.vpnuniversity.com/learn/vpn-protocols-compared-pptp-vs-openvpn-vs-l2tp-vs-sstp *"When in doubt, OpenVPN is usually the safest choice (assuming you have the option)"* Fifth hit (shouldn't even be on the first page as it's only about IPSEC): https://www.networkworld.com/article/2326793/network-security/the-pros-and-cons-of-ipsec.html Sixth hit (shouldn't be on the first page either, as it's only about L2TP): https://vpn-services.bestreviews.net/advantages-and-disadvantages-of-l2tp/ Seventh hit: https://www.expressvpn.com/internet-privacy/protocols/ "OpenVPN is a newer and more configurable protocol." "The best thing about OpenVPN is that its open source. Open may not sound like a good thing for a privacy tool, but its actually a huge advantage. If there are any security flaws in the code X and as yet none are known X they will be quickly identified by the open source community. Paired with a strong encryption algorithm, OpenVPN is the most secure VPN protocol available." Notice that this is a valid search, where I did not cherry pick the results like the Apple Apologists *love* to do - nor do I blame Android for all of iOS' faults, which the Apple Apologists also love to do - nor do I play silly semantic games, which the Apple Apologists love to do. FACT: Bear in mind we're not talking corporate VPN here since the topic is clearly about the VPN app that Facebook pulled today, and about the OpenVPN protocol. FACT: I posit that almost every article you can find will state that OpenVPN is the best protocol for a consumer who simply wishes to connect to an existing free public VPN service on any typical consumer platform. FACT: I also posit the fact that this openvpn protocol is *not* supported on the Mac native VPN client - but I never said - nor implied - that other VPN clients (e.g., Tunnelblick) wouldn't work on the Mac. FACT: I also posit the fact that OpenVPN is a "newer" protocol (and may be the newest in the common list - and probably is), which is why I posit that the the Mac native support is primitive. But I do add that at least the Mac comes with a native VPN client, which, I think, of the common consumer platforms, the only other one that comes with a native client, I think, is Android. (I could check on that as I always use OpenVPN clients so the native client isn't important to me but it's strangely very important to Mac users who generally are slavishly dutiful in toeing the Apple line in all things that they do). Do you dispute these facts in making your assertion that ... a. The Mac native client isn't primitive by not supporting newer protocols b. For replacing the Facebook VPN client on iOS, OpenVPN is NOT generally the best answer for a consumer using a free public VPN service on iOS. |
