Default read only file system

Hi all,

While using the MS media player over the internet, the
application crashed. Some programms now fail to save to
disk afterwards.

I found the following: My complete directory structure is
read only!! on all drives. So I tried to un-tick at the
highest level, this takes a view seconds, but in the end,
although the message suggests otherwise it is not changed.
This all happened in xp-home being an administrator. Does
any body have a clue? I dont want to use my recovery cd if
there is any other option.

Regards

Jeroen

How do you know your entire file system is read only? If it is then YOU =
did it. Are you saying ALL your files are read only (I doubt windows =
would start). Specify the problem precisely.

If you are referring to folders then a/ some are and should be read =
only, b/ windows won't let you break it by removing read only on =
folders, c/ read only does not mean read only when applied to a folder, =
it means parse the desktop.ini.
