Default IIS internet information server

i am a windows xp home edition user. i am in need of the information server
program, which was not installed with the xp edition installation. what is
the best way to attain a copy & get it installed into windows? is it
downloadable?

No, and it won't run on XP Home either. If you need to run IIS
specifically, you need to upgrade to XP Pro.

You can, alternately, locate some other web server that does run on XP Home.
However, you may run into some of the other network limitations of XP Home.

Upgrade to WinXP Pro.
