Default Limited is to limited

I would like to modify the autherisation on the limited user accounts in XP
home to allow my son (4) to do more but not be an administrator. Any
thoughts????

Hi,

What specifically are you trying to allow? You can't modify the account
type, but you can often add appropriate permissions. There is a tool here
thay may interest you:

To add to Rick's advice, what can you possibly want a 4-year-old to do that
he cannot do under a limited account? All children should only be allowed
limited access (mind you, that goes for some parents too...) - give them
enough rope and they'll hang themselves, eventually....

Probably game playing or educational software. Pretty much all that stuff is
absolutely appalling from the perspective of what rights and permissions it
assumes the person running it has.

Thanks for the tool it's set me off to limit his access as an administrator.
Is there some way of stopping him loading programs direct from CD? The
remove access from Add/Remove hasn't stopped that.

Hi,

No, I don't think so as long as the account remains an administrative level
one. He would always have installation privileges, you would have to remove
that function as a group policy, and that would mean no one could install
software.
