Default Character's display problem

Hey there.

This problem started when I installed Windows Live Messenger... There
are letters that get screwed up when I type them in my display name.

For example, when I type an "á" or a "ç" and then save my display name
they show like in the following pictu

And the same happens with some of my contact names, like you can see
he http://img125.imageshack.us/img125/8...ntprob2ub7.png

But apparently it's my problem only because for my friends they show
"ok".

I already uninstalled the program several times and it didn't work... I
also installed the Portuguese version to check if the problem was
because that characters do not belong to the English alphabet but it
didn't solve anything...

Any help would be really appreciated... Oh, and by the way, if that
matters, my OS is Windows XP Pro.

Thank you for your time.

So, 1 week has passed and no one came up with any kind of advice? Well,
perhaps because this problem isn't common, I guess. I've searched the
web before posting here but found nothing about it...
