!!!HELP!!! BartPE isn't working!
I too accidentally made the horrible mistake of deleting the Userinit.exe ...I don't know what i was thinking... Anyhoo I followed the steps for BartPE (http://windowsxp.mvps.org/peboot.htm), made the Boot CD and it all works ok up until when I try to load the SOFTWARE hive to the HKEY_USERS. When I try, this pops up: Cannot load D:\I386\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SOFTWA Access is Denied. I really don't know too much about this sort of thing, but does it matter that the XP installation cd I used for the PE Builder is a Dell XP Professional CD and not the OEM XP Home Edition that is currently installed on the computer I'm (attempting) to fix? PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help! -- delikaizer01 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ delikaizer01's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/member.php?userid=16749 View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?t=565461 http://www.techarena.in |

!!!HELP!!! BartPE isn't working!
Hi delikaizer01,
As you've not deleted the "userinit" registry value, I don't think you need to load the hive to fix it. See if you can copy the userinit.exe file via Recovery Console (from Windows\System32\DLLCache folder to the Windows\System32 folder. If not, do it from BartPE's boot CD. -- Regards, Ramesh Srinivasan, Microsoft MVP [Windows XP Shell/User] Windows® XP Troubleshooting http://www.winhelponline.com "delikaizer01" wrote in message ...
